Opinion: How Prop 1 can help California tackle its affordable housing crisis
Whether you’re sleeping without a roof, struggling to pay rent, or trying to buy your first home, the reach of the housing crisis is undeniable. Roughly one in three veterans in America experiencing homelessness lives in California and seniors are the fastest growing homeless population in the state.
Prop. 1 will help stabilize our communities and reduce homelessness in these uncertain times.

Opinion: Prop. 1 is an investment our state’s families and veterans deserve
Thousands of San Diego veterans come home from serving this country only to face a new battle: the region’s housing crisis. Nearly two in three veterans experiencing homelessness in San Diego County were unsheltered in 2025, according to the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency.
The projects are ready throughout the county. San Diegans just have to vote yes on Proposition 1 to make them happen.

Olivia Allen-Price: “In other words, nothing new to see here. These are issues that California has struggled with for a long time. On the November ballot this year are a few initiatives that legislators or interest groups think could help. Among them is Proposition 1, which would allow the state to borrow $11.25 billion for housing programs.”
